Domain Authority
A composite score predicting how well a domain ranks in search, a rough proxy for the brand authority signals that also influence AI recommendations.
What it means
Domain authority (DA) is a third-party metric (from Moz) scoring domains 1–100 based on backlink strength. While AI systems don't directly read DA, the signals that drive DA, quality backlinks, long history, strong brand presence, are the same signals that make an AI system trust a merchant enough to recommend them. A store with DA 50+ typically has enough authority infrastructure to rank in both Google and AI platforms.
Why it matters for Shopify
Shopify merchants who track domain authority as a proxy for brand credibility can use it as a rough indicator of AI recommendation likelihood alongside their platform-specific metrics.
